Hillbilly Hankerin'

Author(s):
Pat  Cook

"I should'a had puppies!" moans Pa Herford about his five daughters. Up in the hills, it seems all the girls want to get hitched, but these girls have a bad case of "The Hankerin," as Pa calls it. The only exception is Charlemaine, who would rather read than hunt for men. That is, until government man Marcus Slidell shows up. For Charlie it's love at first sight. Marcus, on the other hand, is only interested in buying land from the Herfords. Unfortunately, it's the same land that the Herfords and the Guernseys have been feuding over for decades. Charlie figures she has to find some way to catch Marcus's eye. So she has Wider Perkins, "The Black Widder," fix her up a love potion. After this, it's "Katy-bar-the-door" as people come and go at a furious rate: the daffy Bickle Sisters think the Holler is about to be invaded; government men are being snared by husband-hunting Herfords and Guernseys; newspaper editors try to get a scoop on what's new with the feud. This hysterical new play will keep you laughing and seeing once and for all what it's like to have a bad case of "Hillbilly Hankerin"!
